I researched many compressors before purchasing this one. What I liked about it the most was it was built to last!!! A solid steel roll cage frame, roar drive cast iron pump and it is oil lubed unlike the oil less Porter Cable that honest burned up!!! But also sometimes it's the petite things about a tool that design it a pleasure to expend, like the ball drain valve that will empty the compressor in less than five seconds, a lot less noisy than my archaic pancake unit and a quality soft rubber cord. Clear a cord is a very limited share of the overall tool, but i can't stand it when i use hundreds of dollars of a tool and it comes with a cord that's impossible to wrap up when it's 30 degrees ( makes me wonder what other cheap parts are inside ) One final thing i would like to add is this unit produces far less moisture than most similar units!!! I utilize a moisture filter on both of the mercurial disconnects and i'm distinct the air running throught them is dry, especially for the oil less tools i have.
I bought this compressor for employ in my home shop with the belief that it would also arrive in handy on some renovation projects that require portablity. When it arrived & I got it out of the box, I was very impressed with the solid construction & splendid do. Imagine my anxiety when I cycled it to tubby pressure for the first time & heard a noticable hissing sound. I timed it, without any tools (or even a hose) attached & the compressor cycled after about 8 minutes. Examination of the residence around the control panel revealed that the air was leaking from the regulator, exiting from a minute hole in the regulator body. I contacted Amazon.com & they immediately offered to replace the compressor with another identical unit at no charge to me, including all shipping charges. The recent compressor arrived at my front door before I could even come by the frail one shipped encourage (thank you Amazon.com for the outstanding customer service!) . That same evening I got it unpacked, save in the oil & fired it up. The recent unit had the true same dilemma as the first one, only worse!!! It would only have air for about 3-4 minutes before cycling. And again, I traced the scrape attend to a sinful regulator. Two in a row is enough for me -- for all I know, Amazon.com has a warehouse beefy of these depraved units. On contacting them a second time, they agreed to hold both units help & say me a pudgy refund.
Throughout this terrible experience, Amazon.com has done everything possible to manufacture it good for me. I am very great less impressed with DeWalt/Emglow quality assurance. It's resplendent wonderful that a quandary this clear wouldn't be caught at the factory. I won't have time to research & hold another compressor until after the Christmas holidays, but it's a first-rate bet that DeWalt is now at the bottom of my list. I'm very disappointed in a imprint that I had near to associate with top quality & reliability.
I honest bought this compressor to consume for nailing down hardwood floors. I posthaste discovered why Dewalt does not specify the operating pressure for their compressors. (I at least can't pick up any specification) The Dewalt 55152 compressor shuts off at maximum 100 PSI, and then kicks benefit in when the pressure gets down to 80 PSI. So in reality this is fair an 80 PSI compressor. Pathetic. Intention to improper to drive the nails/staples through the hardwood floor. How can Dewalt specify that this is a 3.8 CFM @ 100 PSI compressor when it can't even possess 100 PSI. The tank is rated at maximum 130 PSI.
From the Dewalt website. "4.0 CFM delivered at 90 PSI pump provides hasty recovery". How is that possible when the compressor does not even turn aid on at let's say 81 PSI? The compressor can't even occupy 90 PSI.
I was also disappointed in how grand it vibrates. It dances all over the concrete floor.
So end away from this compressor if you need more than 80 PSI pressure. (I suspect all Dewalt electric hand carry compressors.)
