I wanted to regain one of these before I left for school since its so portable. I visited Fry's to glance it over ($450 plus tax there) and witness if I liked it, which I did. I was about to order through Amazon, but I became shy when I noticed that it wasn't shipping from Amazon, but a different company since I'm leaving next week and I was panicked that it wouldnt come me in time. So I called the company, and got obliging customer service from their sales line. His name is Abe and his extension number is x260. I told him my location and how grand it would be for two day air shipping. It turned out to be $10 less than on Amazon! He told me that it took a whole day for it to be processed, and that I would gather it on Monday (I called it in Wednsday) . But he said that he would peep what he could do. I accumulate an email an hour later saying that my computer has been shipped! I got it Friday, four days earlier than I opinion it would be. I highly suggest ordering from them, they are very nice and professional and I would definitely order from them again!

Now on to the netbook. Quick-witted is all I can say. The keyboard is mountainous, only 8% smaller than on a regular laptop, making it incredibly easy to type. The mousepad has a miniature friction and the side click bars only prefer a few times to net dilapidated to. The weight is so light and not awkward. The adapter gets very very hot though after an hours consume, I wasnt able to touch it and had to bear it away from my body as I walked. But since the 6 cell battery tilts the computer itself up, the heat from the bottom doesnt rep very hot since air is circulating.

Lastly, I followed some advice online and got rid of the bloatware (the crap that HP puts on there that you really don't need) by downloading the very reliable and effective PC Decrapifier ([...]) . It opened up about 2GB of my harddrive. You can also go into your /C: hard drive into Program Files and delete unwanted software through there since some software isn't listed on the 'Add or Rob Programs" (very very tricky, HP) .

The other advice was to update the 1GB RAM to 2GB. Watch for DDR2 2GB PC5300 Notebook Memory. It's really easy to install, you fair need a number 0 phillips scredriver to unscrew that itsy-bitsy panel correct underneath your mousepad on the bottom of the notebook. Once you acquire that panel, survey for two limited (very itsy-bitsy, you might need a magnifier and light) dismal levers on the accurate and left side of the RAM. At the same time, press those levers away from the RAM and it will honest pop out. Slump in the 2GB (very easy) and press down until you hear a locking sound. Screw the panel support on and your done. This increases your netbooks capacity, meaning you can multi-task like on a larger laptop and you don't salvage any video hump.

Don't put a question to this netbook to hurry like your desktop or burly size laptop...but do quiz it to be lots of fun! It takes unprejudiced a few emails to rep stale to the smaller, yet very convenient and functional keyboard and the wide on board mouse. Very impressed with the 5-1/2 hours of battery time I got with the 6 cell battery while surfing the web, emailing and watching some videos on you tube. I suspect if you do remarkable more than that, battery time will be drained a bit more. Not thrilled with the video playback as there was well-known trail time while watching some videos. Not certain that this is the pc for you if you are looking to peep movies on it...and definitely not for running expansive programs. Wireless internet residence up effortlessly first time around and it has a brighter and crisper mask than the comparable Acers out there. Have read that this model runs hot and fan runs loud, but have not had that scrape at all, in fact, I come by that it runs very smooth and cold. I would recommend this for someone who needs an extra computer floating around the house to hastily check emails, facebook, my state, surf the web, video conferencing (Skype), traveling, etc. The best section about it, is it runs XP, and programs can actually function correctly. Would give this 5 stars, but processor runs a tad insensible, but what should I inquire of for $350.00

This is an profitable netbook that I would award five stars in a heartbeat, but: the pictures of it are misleading, if not a cramped false. They don't reveal the very ample, plug-in battery that protrudes beneath the relieve of the computer, adding a bit more than 3/4" to its height. It's basically a 3/4" by 8" cylinder.

Now, this may not sound like worthy, and to some buyers it won't be an direct, but it adds noteworthy "bulkiness" to the unit, making it harder to fit into standard netbook sleeves. It also looks poor, IMO, which is not an philosophize for me but might be for some people. I'd also be concerned that since the battery protrudes so distinguished it might be more vulnerable to harm than a more internalized battery like the one on the Samsung.

Some users may actually like the powerful, additional slope the battery placement gives the keyboard (personally I don't), and the five hours I got out of the six cells was very generous. Again, this is a huge computer if you can live with the battery. I'd fair like to create potential buyers aware of this narrate since neither the pictures on Amazon nor on the HP website itself note it with the battery installed.

My predicament was that I didn't know about the battery, of course, until I opened the box. Fortunately for me, Amazon's typically immense customer service is allowing me to return the unit and waived the restocking fee.
